Here’s the ad I created during my How to sell your timeshare case study…
Prime location, Super trader, Bargain price
The Gaslamp Plaza Suites is an urban timeshare in downtown San Diego’s popular Gaslamp district. It’s a renovated historic building, with a marble-lined lobby, European decor in the rooms, and a rooftop terrace with a view of the city. It’s more like a boutique hotel than a typical resort.
This timeshare is an excellent choice to (a) use yourself in San Diego, or (b) trade on RCI where it gets exceptional value.
(a) Staying in San Diego
If you enjoy San Diego, and like being in walking distance to everything the downtown area has to offer, this is a great place to stay. You can easily walk to Horton Center, Seaport Village or the Convention Center, and there are loads of restaurants and shops within a few blocks. It’s also close to the trolley if you want to venture further, like to Old Town.
There’s also a rooftop terrace where they serve continental breakfast. It’s a lovely place to sit in the sun, admiring the views out over the city.
This unit is a mini-suite, upper floors (the upper floors are quieter and more desirable). It can sleep 4, but I personally prefer it for a couple, as the space is limited, and the place has a more adult feel to it.
Unlike some timeshares, the maintenance fees on this one are a really good deal compared to booking the accommodations via other avenues. For 2017 maintenance fees + taxes, I paid a total of $657, while nightly room rates here are currently going for $142 (Mon) to $203 (Fri), based on a quick search I just ran. If you want to stay in the heart of the city, you won’t find a better deal.
2018 maintenance fees will be due in December 2017, or you can pay them in quarterly installments.
(b) Trading via RCI (or II)
If you’re looking for a strong trader, this timeshare gets exceptional trading power on RCI, giving you up to 48 TPUs for a prime summer week. It’s dual affiliated with both RCI and Interval, so you can use either, but IMHO it gets much better value on RCI.
I’ve currently got reservations for peak summer weeks in both 2018 and 2019, which can give you excellent trading power if you decide to go that route. You’re free to change those reservations, but the summer weeks get the highest trading power, and these typically go quickly.
Price = $1. Buyer pays closing costs & transfer fees of $280.
$281 and it’s yours to enjoy! Perhaps a summer week in the heart of San Diego next year?? 🙂
